STATION AREA  | ALMERE

At the end of July 2020 the environmental permit for the redevelopment of the Stationoffices in Almere was applied for. The intended redevelopment provides for the transformation of the two vacant office buildings on either side of the entrance to Almere Central Station into housing.

In their current state, the 4 storey buildings have a combined office area of over 5,000 m2. Within the redevelopment, 2 extra floors will be placed on top of the buildings, allowing 67 apartments to be realized. The apartments will vary in size between approximately 65m2 and 140m2. The majority of the apartments will be executed as a maisonette which will give the apartments a sun-oriented balcony or loggia.

As part of the redevelopment, the existing underpasses under the buildings will be closed. They will be replaced by a wider and higher new passageway from Station Square to Bus Square parallel to the Railway Path. The commercial spaces located in the plinth of the buildings will be rearranged and will match the changes to the superstructure in terms of appearance.

The commercial spaces in the plinth of the adjacent residential complexes of the Ymere housing corporation will also be upgraded. All stores will be given new facades. In addition, the existing canopy will be removed and new canopies will be realized for the stores at the Stationsplein.

In anticipation of the construction work, the office buildings have already been demolished on the inside. It is expected that the construction work will start in the first quarter of 2021 and be completed in the second quarter of 2022.
