De Pershal, Kroonenberg Groep’s latest high-end redevelopment in Amsterdam, has officially opened. Architecture agency Rijnboutt designed the renovation and transformation of De Pershal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Built at this Amsterdam location in 1930, the stately Telegraaf building was known for its colossal printing presses in the high-ceilinged press hall (pershal<\/em>) on the ground floor. Kroonenberg Groep has owned the building in Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal since 2016. Following the departure of the previous tenant Kasbank, work began on redeveloping the building to establish it as a new landmark in Amsterdam\u2019s historic city centre. The first phase of the redevelopment resulted in 7,300 m2 of high-quality office space spread over five floors. An observation deck constructed at the top of the listed building offers breathtaking views of the city. Guerrilla has been a tenant at this location since 2018. This first phase restored the building\u2019s high-ceilinged hall to its former glory, and office space has now also been created in De Pershal during the nearly completed second phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lesley Bamberger – CEO Kroonenberg Groep<\/strong>: “We collaborated to create a beautiful office building at this prominent location in the centre of Amsterdam. We were sympathetic and consistent in developing the building\u2019s features, both conceptually and in the choice of materials and the design of architectural details. This created a comfortable, highly sustainable office that offers glimpses into the past in many places<\/em>.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Concrete columns, a steel structure with bridges and stairs, marble, and dark end grain flooring combine modern practicality with the atmospheric industrial character of yesteryear. Daylight falls surprisingly deep into the room from above via the former shop windows or from the old alleys so characteristic of Amsterdam’s city centre. The monumental natural stone public entrance has been restored and extended inside. It forms the entrance to a succession of spectacular locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It has become the ultimate working environment in the beautiful, historic heart of Amsterdam, equipped with a high-quality climate control system, energy label A+++ and Breeam In-Use excellent certification. A total of 2,700 m2 of office space has been created, which is leased on a long-term basis to a multinational in the field of supply chain management and logistics.
