Kroonenberg Groep will be developing a housing complex on Buitenveldertselaan in Amsterdam. The planning agreement was signed last week with the Municipality of Amsterdam. NEOO is the delegated developer for this project.

For this development, Kroonenberg Groep will be working together with Studio Gang Architects, an internationally prominent architecture firm based in Chicago. Its founder, Jeanne Gang, was named architect of the year at the international Women in Architecture Awards in 2016. Her work is characterised by the relationship she creates between people, their social environment and the environment in which they live. Good examples of this can be seen in the Aqua Tower (now completed) and in the Vista Tower, currently under construction in Chicago, in which great attention is devoted to the views and sightlines from every floor and in which social contact is made possible among the various floors. For the design on Buitenveldertselaan, a detailed analysis of the surroundings was conducted. It considered the Zuidas on one side with its wide range of residential towers and, on the other side, the low-rise development, green areas and open space typical of Buitenveldert. Within these surroundings, the design acts as a link and an icon.

The project will provide approx. 250 residential units, 40% of which will be mid-priced rentals and 60% will be rental apartments in the private sector. The living space in the apartments will range from approx. 45 m2 to approx. 130 m2. The apartments will be distributed between two buildings. Piet Boon will provide the floor plans and the interior designs for the homes, just as he did for the Huys project in New York. Located between the buildings will be a plaza designed by Piet Oudolf, the garden designer who also designed such projects as the Highline in New York. The ground floor will accommodate approx. 500 m2 of commercial functions.

Beneath the buildings, there will be two levels of parking space for approx. 130 parking spaces. There will also be a large bicycle parking facility for more than 700 bicycles.

The residential tower at the corner of Buitenveldertselaan and Van Neijenrodeweg will feature a lobby staffed at all times.
