HoutBrox opens first new shop in Barones
The first phase in revitalising De Barones is coming to a close and the first shop in the new Barones is now open. Last week, HoutBrox opened the doors of its stunning retail unit located adjacent to Lange Brugstraat. HoutBrox is leasing approx. 1,250 m2 distributed over two floors. The entrance is on the ground floor and visitors can take an escalator in the retail unit itself to the first floor. HoutBrox is a clothing chain that sells a variety of trendsetting and exclusive brands of men’s and women’s stylish casualwear.
The opening of HoutBrox means that visitors will have a very good idea of what the new shopping centre will look like. The use of tall glass facades creates an open shopping centre: introducing more transparency in the shop fronts will enhance the shopping experience.
In cooperation with 3W Real Estate, Rijnboutt and KroesePaternotte, Kroonenberg Groep developed plans to enlarge the retail areas on the first floor to include space on the ground floor so that larger units would become available. The first floor of each retail unit will be accessible from the ground floor just as it is in the space leased by HoutBox. This system will thus eliminate the escalators located out in the shopping centre and will provide more space there for a central plaza with food service establishments.
The existing entrances are also being renovated to make them look more inviting. The current tenants such as H&M, V&D, Etos and Hugo Boss are being consulted during the entire planning process. The total surface of the shopping centre (approx. 28,000 m²) will remain virtually unchanged. All the shops in the shopping centre will remain open during the renovation activities, which are expected to be completed by the spring of 2016.
