404 Park Avenue South New York
Kroonenberg Groep is renovating an historic office building at 404 Park Avenue South, on the corner of East 28th Street in New York. The building will be converted into a sophisticated apartment building with 58 luxurious and high quality apartments and it will be a celebration of Dutch Design.
Lesley Bamberger, CEO of Kroonenberg Groep: ‘The theme of Dutch Design is prominent right from the start of the project. The scaffolding covers have been decorated with a Delft Blue motif - a statement in itself - and several major names with Dutch roots are involved in the project. Piet Boon designed both the building’s interior and its facades, …,staat creative agency took care of the branding and identity, and Piet Oudolf - whose many well-known projects include New York’s High Line - designed the roof terrace.’
This is Kroonenberg Groep’s first redevelopment project in the US, but not their first property; they also own property in Miami and Chicago. Park Avenue South is also a Kroonenberg Groep first in that it is the first project they are developing in the US without a partner.
Bamberger: ‘Although most of the offices had tenants, we decided to redevelop the building into an apartment complex. This area has been given a major boost thanks to the transformation of the emerging NoMad district (NOrth of MADison Square Park) and the arrival of innovative retailers and the design hotel Gansevoort Park right next to the building.’
